Hi, my name is Allison Makker and I am so excited to be volunteering with HANNAH for three months from September – December 2018. I am a qualified social worker and I have been working in a Care and Protection role with Open Home Foundation (in Rotorua and Christchurch) for the last two years.  I’m originally from Morrinsville which is a small country town in the North Island, so I’m a farm girl at heart!  I’ve always dreamed that one day I would be able to use my social work skills and knowledge to serve overseas and I feel deeply humbled and honoured to be given the opportunity to join Kati, Alice, Ken and other volunteers at HANNAH, Targu Mures.

I am passionate about working with families, children and young people and I believe that God has created everyone with worth and potential. The work of HANNAH excites me because I believe it answers the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are precious to His heart.  I am hoping to come alongside Kati and use my social work skills and knowledge to encourage, support and bless the work of HANNAH. Living in Romania will be a new experience for me, I’m looking forward to experiencing life in a different cultural context and I anticipate that there will be lots of learning and growth along the way!  I’d love to partner with you to pray for the children and families HANNAH touches, and I would be deeply grateful if you were to pray for me as I prepare to embark on the journey ahead.

Blessings, Allie
